HISTORY

Inn de Zwaan is a place with history. Already in the 17th century the name is mentioned in Elspeet - a place where even the prince of Orange is said to have stayed overnight on his transit to Harderwijk.
A place with history
The present building dates from 1882, rebuilt after a major fire that largely destroyed the village. Since then, De Zwaan has been part of the monumental heritage of the municipality of Nunspeet. In the decades that followed, travelers, artists and fellow villagers found shelter here. One of them was the British artist Blanche Douglas Hamilton, known in Elspeet as the English Miss. She stayed in De Zwaan in her early years and captured the Veluwe in countless works. Many of her paintings can still be seen in the North Veluws Museum in Nunspeet.
Between 2020 and 2022, the building was restored to its former glory. Today, Herberg de Zwaan is once again a place where people feel welcome - stylish, warm and with attention to detail.
Inside the hotel, you will still find pictures and elements that recall the past, combined with the comforts of today.
